Beeswax by Ron Brown
Beeswax
This is the fourth edition of Beeswax, which has an updated candle-making section and more on wax casting and other useful wax information.
In 1981 Beeswax was the first book on the subject for nearly 73 years - since Cowan's Waxcraft appeared - and has been published by popular request. It contains details on the history, chemical content, and the many uses of beeswax. The 20 illustrations are carefully chosen to make this an essentially practical book for beekeeper, wax candle and polish maker as well as for the interested reader, who may have often wondered what produced the shine on the dining-room table.
Ron Brown was a well-known lecturer on beekeeping and is the author of several beekeeping books and pamphlets.

Reviewed by John Phipps The Beekeepers Quarterly Summer 1995
Do not let the apparent slimness of this volume deceive you, for this revised monograph on wax is undoubtedly the best book on the subject currently available world wide. It is packed with detailed information on the origin of wax, its use by bees, how mankind has utilised it throughout history and how beekeepers today can make the widest use of the material as an ingredient for dozens of different products, as well as recycling it for apiary use. It is thorough and practical in its treatment of subjects, and, characteristically of the author, techniques are described which will make the projects economically viable.
Whether one's interest is on the showbench or the market stall, in domestic economy or in craftwork, there is plenty to both satisfy the beekeeper and stir him or her in to action. A 'get on with it' book full of interesting ideas for projects for all seasons of the year. Well worth the price and a sound investment.
